We are excited to officially announce Art Freund's candidacy as a Republican running for the Kansas House of Representatives District 76.
Art and his wife, Kelly, live in Lebo, where he was born and raised. The first six years of their marriage were spent in Emporia before they returned to his hometown to raise their two daughters. Their oldest daughter is an emergency room nurse while the youngest is in high school. Having spent his entire life in east-central Kansas, the surrounding communities throughout the District have played a significant role in shaping his experiences, values, and connection to the region.
Art earned dual associate degrees in Agricultural Diesel Mechanics and Farm and Ranch Management from Hutchinson Community College. After graduating from college, he worked as a project manager in the road construction industry for a few years. It didn't take long for him to follow his heart back to Lebo, where he started his own farming operation through hard work and determination. This achievement is a testament to his dedication and perseverance. The same drive that helped him build a successful farming operation is what Art will bring to the Kansas House of Representatives.
He currently serves on the Coffey County Planning and Zoning Board and the Coffey County Farm Bureau Board. He previously served on the USDA Farm Service Agency Coffey County Committee. In 2020, he received the Kansas Bankers Association Soil Conservation Award in recognition of the conservation practices implemented on his farming operation.
“I am running to be a strong voice for our families, farmers, small businesses, and rural communities while protecting the freedoms and values that make our district a great place to call home,” Freund said. “Representative Brad Barrett and I have been working together over the past year to address important issues facing our district, and I hope to have the opportunity to continue that work and deliver results for the people of District 76."
